Course Content

The Calmbirth® program is a 12-hour, evidence-based antenatal program designed to help expectant parents prepare for birth with confidence through psychological, emotional, and physical preparation. Delivered by certified educator Regina Power over a relaxed weekend in Berry, NSW, the program offers time away from day-to-day demands to focus on preparing for birth with your support person.

What You'll Gain

After the course, many mothers describe feeling less fear and more confidence in their ability to give birth. Evidence-based prenatal education is shown to reduce birth anxiety, with participants reporting increased confidence and sense of control. Over two decades of teaching, Regina has seen how this preparation helps both mothers and their support partners feel more capable of working together and understanding their roles during labor.

Making Informed Decisions

You'll learn how to access and understand current research, so you can make informed decisions with your care provider and clearly communicate your preferences. In a short period of time, many women gain a clearer understanding of how their bodies are designed for birth, and how to work with their baby throughout the process. With this knowledge, decision-making becomes more considered and less driven by fear.

The 8 Topics Covered

Regina's curriculum is grounded in evidence-based prenatal education research and certified by Calmbirth®, an internationally recognized prenatal education program.

1. Birth Psychology

Understand how your mental state, thoughts and beliefs influence your experience of birth and the way your body works with labour. This topic explores the mind-body connection and how confidence impacts your birth journey. Research in perinatal psychology demonstrates that psychological preparation significantly affects labor outcomes and maternal satisfaction.

2. Labor Physiology

Learn the four stages of labour and how your body naturally prepares itself to give birth. Understanding the physiology of birth empowers you to work with your body rather than against it during labor.

3. Practical Birth Tools

Master techniques and practical skills including visualization, meditation, massage, acupressure, and active birth positioning. These tools assist you mentally and physically throughout labor, giving you tangible strategies to manage the experience.
